'Free and free eventually meet' Free ad-supported streaming TV FAST and streaming are taking over the broadcast market. Terrestrial broadcasting and cable TV, which have dominated traditional broadcasting, have been forced to change.
TV stations and cable TV are starting to think about new synergies. They are looking for ways to repurpose their content using IP. A new type of broadcast channel has also emerged that "broadcasts on both TV and FAST platforms". Digital TV stations (Diginet) and free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) are often grouped together, with advertising as the main source of revenue. Jonathan Katz has launched a Free TV Network that targets both TV and FAST.
New content genres are also entering FAST. The most popular K-content genres on the FAST platform are news, music, and dramas. The K-pop FAST platform, which specializes in K-pop, has emerged. It will be broadcast in the United States, Europe, and Asia. This is the first time a K-pop FAST channel will be available on a global scale.
Initially, TV Stations were afraid of FAST. They feared it would cannibalize their audiences. However, after years of practice, there is hope that FAST can extend the life of terrestrial broadcast content and bring in new audiences and revenue. This is where FAST and TV broadcasting align. When FASTmaster looked at the top 100 most popular content on FAST in 2023, many of them were terrestrial broadcast content, and only 15 of them were current season content. In other words, even when a season is over, it can find new life on FAST.
