텔레그래프, 중동 자본 인수 논란…CNN의 앵커 왕국을 만든 제프 저커의 귀환

RedBird IMI, a company led by former CNN head Jeff Zucker, has unveiled plans to acquire the Telegraph newspaper and Spectator magazine, two of Britain's most prominent independent newspapers.

But the deal, which would see a U.S. company funded by Abu Dhabi in the Middle East acquire a British media company, is generating a lot of initial noise. UK regulators have already signaled their intentions to intervene. The Telegraph is the UK's leading conservative newspaper, founded in 1855.

전 CNN대표인 제프 저커(Jeff Zucker)가 이끄는 레드버드IMI(RedBird IMI)가 영국의 유명 독립 신문 ‘텔레그래프(Telegraph newspaper)’와 ‘스펙테이터 매거진(Spectator magazine)’ 을 인수하려는 계획을 공개했다.

그러나 이 거래는 중동 아부다비로부터 자금을 조달한 미국 기업이 영국 언론사를 인수하는 형태에서 시작 초기 많은 잡음도 나오고 있다. 영국 규제 기관도 이미 개입을 시사했다. 텔레그래프는 지난 1855년 창간된 영국의 대표 보수주의 종합일간 신문이다.
